Lebanon Playoff Game

The Generals played Lebanon in the semi-final game of playoffs this past Friday night in a close game but came up short with the final score only being 44-56 Lebanon. Last time The Generals took on Lebanon they lost by 42 points, but this time they showed Lebanon that they can play at their level and give them a run for their money. Both teams started the game off strong, and The Generals did have the lead for some of the first but Lebanon out-scored The Generals 18-12 in the first quarter. Lebanon out-scored Stark in the second quarter, but only by 2 points. Lebanon was up 31-22 at the end of the first half. Lebanon and Stark came out strong again in the second half of the game, and at one point in the third Stark was only down by 2 points. Lebanon was up 45-33 at the end of the third quarter and The Generals knew that they'd have to put everything into the fourth quarter. Lilli Stogner from Stark fouled out in the fourth and by the end of the quarter The Generals were forced to start fouling as Lebanon tried to run the clock. Lebanon put up 13 points and Stark was only able to put up 11 points in the last quarter of the game. Lebanon won the semi-final game by only 12 points, whereas they beat Stark by 42 the last time they played them. Stark put everything they had into the game but turnovers were a big problem for them, as they had 29 of them. Chelsea Woodsum from Stark also hurt her leg in the fourth quarter but was able to push through it and finish her last high school basketball game. Senior Anna Stenger was The Generals top scorer, with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assists. Senior Chelsea Woodsum put up 11 points and Junior Brady Johnson scored 9 points with 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists for Stark. Lilli Stogner, 4 points and Brooke Patnode, 2 points also scored for Stark. The Generals also had some trouble boxing out, as Lebanon has a very tall team and only grabbed 20 total rebounds. Rebecca Wright was Lebanon's top scorer, with 21 points. Sally Rainey, 12 points and Megan Gradijani, 11 points were Lebanon's other lead scorers. Catherine Cole, 5 points, Carrie Laramie, 4 points and Isabelle Fabry, 3 points also scored for Lebanon. Lebanon moves on in playoffs and will take on Hanover and The Generals season is over.
